I always want to try out this place when I pass by. At first, I thought it’s just another Japanese cuisine like the rest around the area. Little did I know that they not only have an extensive selection of Izakaya style appetizers and snacks, they also have rice and noodles, sushi rolls, bubble teas, desserts and ALCOHOL! When I say alcohol, it means from all domestic beers to cocktail drinks and all kinds of SAKE! Pretty all-around in an eatery or drinking place to cover the majority people.

When I first walk into this place, I am impressed. It looks very upscale compared to all other major Bubble tea places, namely Go for Tea, Destiny and Ten Ren. It does not look like a bubble tea place, it looks like a lounge, an urban lounge, mainly because of the hip hop musics that they play. It’s like going to a club!

If you are familiar with Destiny’s menu layout, you will find Dozo to have the similar, as they are under the same company. However, I find the drink selections are more diverse and special compared to those at Destiny’s.

Mango Slush

Mango Slush with mango chunks and tapiocas - Very sweet mangoes, freshly made - Rating: 4.5/5

Torpedo

Torpedo - Vodka with Beer, props for sticking to the exact presentation as their menu, other than that nothing special. Rating 3/5

Creme Brulee

Creme Brulee (Cold) - Perfect portion for sharing and not too sweet as well - Only $3.95! Rating: 4/5

Grilled Squid

Grilled Squid - Good flavour and chewy. Teriyaki sauce is not too salty - Rating: 4.5/5

Tempura Bits Green Tea Ice-Cream

Tempura Bits Green Tea Ice-Cream - A bit disappointed because it looks smaller than from the menu. It tastes good and crispy with the tempura bits but doesn't worth $6 - Rating: 3.5/5

Crispy noodles shrimps

Crispy noodles shrimps - Rating: 4/5

Fried Dumplings

Fried Dumplings - 3.5/5

Pork Cutlet Stone Rice with Egg

Pork Cutlet Stone Rice with Egg - The pork cutlet is too dry. I need to add some soy sauce to make it more moist - Rating: 3/5

California Paper Hand Roll

California Paper Hand Roll - Rating: 3.5/5

Price: $5-10 Reasonably priced. The times I went are during their grand opening promotion throughout September with an 50% discount on all drinks. That’s only $3.50 for a Large size fresh mango slush with tapiocas! But I heard that they are having a 20% discount throughout the month of October as well.

Service: 5/5 Excellent service. I cannot complain. Their servers are friendly and considerate, also very patient when a complex order is taken. When asked for hot water in a group, they give us individual ceramic cups and a tea pot to keep the hot water warm.

Overall: 4/5 Their snack menu is definitely very attractive. I’ll come again for sure to try them all out. Having said that, Dozo is a really cool and classy place to hang out with your friends or to go on a casual date 🙂 And certainly the choice when you can’t decide if you want to have desserts, bubble teas or alcoholic drinks with your friends at night. Last but not least, they offer free wi-fi AND they let you play cards even on weekends! Major bonus points.
